Nathan Minhas - brace
On a Tuesday evening when the `fuel crisis` cut the number of fixtures in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South to just three, Salisbury missed the opportunity to move to within three points of unbeaten leaders Hayes & Yeading United when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Poole Town.
Despite the wet weather, a crow of 535 attended the Raymond McEnhill Stadium enjoyed an entertaining encounter.
It was the visitors who made the initial breakthrough in the 21st minute with a fine finish from a narrow angle from Tony Lee.
The Whites pulled back on level terms after 62 minutes when Sam Ashton poked the ball home.
Both sides had chances to win the game, but on the balance of play, a draw was probably about right on the night.
Tiverton Town won for the first time in the league since August 21st when they secured a 2-1 success at The Met Coaches Community Stadium against a Merthyr Town side whose last victory came 7 days after Tivvy`s – and against the same opposition – Beaconsfield Town.
A crowd of 357 saw a goalless opening 45 minutes and then it was the hosts who drew first blood after 70 minutes when Kerry Morgan`s run was finished off by Elijah Phipps.
But 7 minutes later, Tiverton levelled when an effort from Matt Wright was deemed to have crossed the line, although the home players and fans didn`t agree!
There was no disputing the visitors` second goal though just 4 minutes later, and it was Wright again who scored to secure the points.
Hartley Wintney enjoyed a fine away win at Weston-super-Mare last Saturday. However, they weren`t able to back that up when they welcomed Beaconsfield Town to The Memorial Playing Field.
The Rams had lost their previous two matches and conceded 9 goals in the process.
But they were 2-0 ahead by the 20th minute on Tuesday, taking a first-minute lead through Nathan Minhas and then doubling that from Toby Little.
Ben Wright headed the Row back into the game 2 minutes before the break.
Minhas` second just after the hour-mark restored Beaconsfield`s two-goal cushion and they made it 4-1 in the 76th minute through Bajram Pashaj.
