Former Portsmouth striker Alfie Stanley became Dorchester Town`s hero as his second-half hat-trick helped his side to a third win of the season in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South on Wednesday night.
The Magpies overcame Tiverton Town by the odd goal in five at the Ian Moorcroft Stadium and end a four-game losing run.
The home side had the lions` share of possession in the opening 45 minutes without managing to breach the Dorchester defence.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 63rd minute when Austen Booth was adjudged to have brought down Flavio Tavares in the box and Stanley duly converted the resulting penalty.
And it was Stanley again who gave the visitors a two-goal cushion on 71 minutes when he beat Tiverton `keeper Lewis Williams with a direct free-kick from 20 yards.
But 8 minutes later, the Yellows were handed a way back into the game when sub Jordan Lam was taken down in the area and Louis Morrison smacked home the spot-kick.
Five minutes from the end of normal time though, Dorchester virtually made sure of the first victory for interim bosses Brian Churchill and Craig Robinson when Stanley completed his hat-trick with a fantastic lob over Williams from fully 40 yards.
Lam did manage to cause a nervy finale when he pulled it back to 2-3 from the edge of the area, and when the board showed 7 minutes of stoppage time, nerves frayed even more, but the Magpies held out for three vital points.
