Big crowd sees Bromsgrove progress
Division One South club AFC Totton will have enjoyed their 2-0 home win over Premier Division South side Dorchester Town even more after their management team quit to join the Magpies earlier in the week!
Hisham Kasimu broke the deadlock to put the Stags in front in first half injury-time.
And then the home side confirmed their place in the hat for Monday`s draw with a second from Ethan Taylor 4 minutes from time.
Division One Central side Bedford Town enjoyed a terrific 3-1 win over three-times Trophy finalists, Northern Premier League Premier Division Stafford Rangers at The Eyrie.
Rory McAuley gave the Eagles an early 8th-minute lead that Callum Donnelly doubled 4 minutes later.
Connor Tomlinson increased Bedford`s lead on the hour-mark, and although Joe Kenton pulled one back for Rangers in the 69th minute, there was no way back, especially when they had sub Tre Pemberton sent-off for a second booking near the end.
Bedford`s league rivals Welwyn Garden City also produced an upset by beating Isthmian League Premier Division side Merstham 3-1 at Moatside.
Jay Rolfe`s 24th-minute effort for the Citizens was all that separated the teams at the break.
Lee Close then added a second for the visitors 11 minutes after the restart, only for a John Ufuah penalty to pull the Moatsiders back into the game with 20 minutes remaining.
But a George Ironton goal bin stoppage time sealed City`s spot in the next round.
Three Division One South teams triumphed over Premier Division South opposition.
Frome Town edged out Poole Town by the odd goal in five at Badger`s Hill.
The visitors took a 17th-minute lead when Will Fletcher headed home at the far post.
The equaliser arrived when a Jack Witcombe cross just about evaded Jon Davies but fell perfectly for Kane Simpson to tap into the net, but just 4 minutes later Frome made it 2-1 with a terrific solo effort by Rex Mannings.
Frome made it 3-1 a minute before the break through Davies.
Luke Burbidge halved the deficit in the 66th minute but, despite a good deal of pressure on the home goal, Frome held out to record a good win.
Yate Town made be making the Emirates FA Cup headlines, but they were on the wrong end of an upset on Saturday as Willand Rovers won 2-0 at the South West Interiors Stadium.
Rovers took an early 5th-minute lead through Ben Griffith.
And on 23 minutes, they doubled their advantage through Bailey Kempster.
Five minutes into the second half, the Bluebells chances of getting back into the game all-but disappeared when they had experienced forward Stuart Fleetwood dismissed for violent conduct.
Merthyr Town`s long trek down to Bolitho Park to play Plymouth Parkway ended in a 1-0 defeat.
Just as it looked as though it was heading for penalties, Rio Garside slid home Parkway`s winner in the 89th minute.
There were a handful of `upsets` against Southern League sides, including two who had home advantage.
Premier Division South side Chesham United welcomed Isthmian South Central neighbours Bracknell Town to the Meadow and the sides shared a 1-1 draw in normal time.
New loan signing from Sutton United, Kylian Kouassi, gave the Generals a 15th-minute lead that Dave Tarpey cancelled out on the hour-mark.
The Robins had Michael Atkinson sent-off for a second bookable offence in the 88th minute, but with no more goals, it was straight to penalties, which Bracknell triumphed 2-1.
Premier Division Central side Lowestoft Town were beaten 3-2 at Crown Meadow by Northern Premier Division One Midlands outfit Yaxley, who also finished with ten-men.
Louis McIntosh gave the Trawlerboys a 9th-minute lead that the Cuckoos turned round early in the second half with goals from Harmeed Ishola almost straight after the restart and Matt Sparrow 7 minutes later.
Lowestoft were awarded an 83rd minute penalty for which Yaxley`s Tom Waumsley was dismissed with a second yellow card, and Ryan Hawkins equalised from the spot.
But literally straight from the kick-off, Yaxley went up the other end and made it 3-2 through Liam Hook – a goal that proved to be the winner.
Lowestoft`s league rivals Alvechurch were also beaten by an NPL Division One Midlands outfit in Chasetown at The Scholars.
A crowd of 530 saw Charlie Dowd break the deadlock to give `Church the lead 2 minutes into the second half.
Jack Langston equalised just 2 minutes later and then scored what proved to be the winner 5 minutes later.
Other Premier Division Central clubs through are Bromsgrove Sporting, whose interim management team steered them to a 2-0 Victoria Ground win over NPL Division One Midlands side Ilkeston Town.
A big crowd saw headers from Joel Kettle after 37 minutes and Nathan Hayward 5 minutes into the second half seal the Rouslers win, although Kettle`s day ended badly when he was shown a straight red card for a last-man challenge with 16 minutes to go.
There was a dismissal too at Steel Park where Ilkeston`s league rivals Corby Town were beaten 1-0 by Banbury United.
Chris Wreh scored what turned out to be the only goal of the game after 11 minutes, with the Steelmen having sub Steve Diggin sent-off in the 79th minute.
Tamworth travelled to another NPL Division One Midlands outfit in Spalding United and were given a tough test.
The game finished 1-1 after normal time, with Shaquille McDonald`s 62nd minute effort for the Lambs being cancelled out by Stefan Broccoli 6 minutes from time.
But Tamworth held their nerve in the penalty shoot-out to win 4-2.
And Biggleswade Town saw off Spalding`s league rivals Wisbech Town 2-0 at Fenland Park.
Joe Neal proved to be the Waders` hero with a brace in the 61st and 68th minutes.
Rushall Olympic earned a fairly comfortable 4-1 win at Noose Lane against NPL Division One Midlands side Sporting Khalsa.
Danny Glover and Chekaine Steele gave the Pics a 2-0 interval lead that Liam Armstrong cut just after the break.
But Glover again and then sub Tyrone Ofori ensured there was to be no upset.
Nuneaton Borough`s recent improved form continued as they won 3-0 at Julius Martin Lane against Khalsa`s league rivals Soham Town Rangers.
Anthony Dwyer bagged a brace either side of half-time, with Leroy Lita adding the other with 15 minutes remaining.
There were five all-Premier Division Central ties.
Top billing went to the game at Keys Park between Hednesford Town and promotion favourites Peterborough Sports.
In the 14th minute, Jordan Nicholson gave the visitors the lead – a lead they doubled in the 41st minute through Mark Jones.
But on 56 minutes, the Pitmen were awarded a penalty which Courtney Richards converted.
And 15 minutes from time, the hosts were back on level terms when they were awarded another spot-kick, this time netted by sub Reece Flanagan.
Just 2 minutes later though, the Turbines marched into the next round with a second for Mark Jones.
Leiston increased Hitchin Town`s woes with a 3-1 win at Top Field.
Ben Hunter gave the visitors a 24th-minute lead that Brendan Ocran eventually added to on 69 minutes.
Kieran Jones headed Hitchin back into the tie after 75 minutes, but just 4 minutes later, Siju Odelusi restored Leiston`s two-goal cushion.
Two minutes into stoppage time, Blues` keeper Sam Donkin saved Luke Brown`s penalty to keep the scoreline at 3-1.
Stourbridge won the derby at the Trico Stadium against Redditch United, courtesy of a goal from experienced striker Reece Styche straight after half-time.
Another away winner were Needham Market, who triumphed 2-0 at Westwood Road against St Ives Town.
Luke Ingram put the Marketmen in front after 21 minutes.
And a terrific 30-yard free-kick from Byron Lawrence sealed victory 6 minutes from time.
Royston Town edged through 2-1 against Stratford Town at Garden Walk.
Matt Bateman gave the Crows an early 7th-minute lead that Harry Draper doubled on 37 minutes.
Ahmed Obeng reduced the arrears just before the hour-mark but Stratford weren`t able to find a leveller.
Premier Division South leaders Farnborough eased through to the next round with a 4-1 success at home against Isthmian League Premier Division side Bowers & Pitsea.
But they had to be given a jolt to get going when Ade Osifuwa gave the visitors an early 8th-minute lead.
Ricky Holmes in the 17th minute and John Oyenuga in the 35th minute gave Boro a 2-1 interval lead.
And then Michael Fernandes after 72 minutes and then sub Connor Cullen in stoppage time added two more to make it a comfortable win for Spencer Day`s side.
The side in second place in the table, Hayes & Yeading United, who are unbeaten in all competitions so far this season, were given a scare by Isthmian League North side Heybridge Swifts at Scraley Road before scraping through on penalties.
Ben Frempah gave the visitors an early 5th-minute lead that Lionel Ashworth levelled just before half-time.
It was nip and tuck until 5 minutes from time when Joe Claridge popped up to put Swifts in front.
Paul Hughes` side fought back to equalise a minute from time through Moses Emmanuel and, although Darren Phillips was shown a straight red card with few seconds later, it came too late to have an effect on the outcome.
Hayes & Yeading won the shoot-out 4-1.
Another of the division`s FA Cup heroes, Harrow Borough, could be forgiven for having half an eye on next weekend`s big tie against League One giants Portsmouth.
But they just did enough to scrape through at the King George`s Field against Isthmian South Central side South Park, courtesy of Dernell Wynter`s 9th minute goal.
The kick-off at the Elmbridge Xcel Sports Hub between Walton Casuals and Isthmian North side Great Wakering Rovers was delayed by half-an-hour due to the visitors being held up on the M25!
And the Stags were given a scare, despite taking a 21st-minute lead through Danny Rowe.
Ashley Nzala equalised 8 minutes into the second half and the tie looked to be heading for penalties.
And it did, although not a shoot-out at the end of the game as Casuals were awarded a stoppage-time spot-kick which Rhodell Gordon converted.
Wimborne Town sealed a 4-2 win at Division One Central side Thame United, thanks to a Harry Morgan brace and singles from Curtis Young and sub Addwell Chipaangura.
Hartley Wintney edged out Division One South visitors Melksham Town 2-1.
The home side had a bad start when defender Pascal Kpohomouh deflected a cross past his own keeper after just 5 minutes.
And it certainly didn`t look good for the Row when, after just 33 minutes, they were reduced to ten-men when Jordan Edwards was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Matt Hurley.
But second half goals from Sam Argent and Mitch Parker turned the game in the home side`s favour and sealed their passage into Monday`s draw.
There were two all-Premier Division South encounters.
Salisbury triumphed 2-1 at Privett Park in a feisty encounter against Gosport Borough.
After Dan Wooden had given Boro an early lead, Tom Blair and Sam Ashton gave the Whites a 2-1 lead they held onto.
There was a flash point in the second half which saw a red card for both teams – Darren Mullings for Salisbury and Ryan Woodford for Boro, who also had manager Shaun Gale dismissed.
And Weston-super-Mare edged a 3-2 win over Taunton Town in the Somerset derby at the Optima Stadium.
Jacob Wannell gave the Peacocks a 21st-minute lead they held until the break.
Four minutes after the restart, Nick McCootie equalised, only for Wannell to restore Taunton`s lead in the 70th minute.
Scott Laird levelled just 3 minutes later and then it was he who grabbed the winner with 6 minutes remaining.
Two Division One South sides, Cinderford Town and Berkhamsted, made it through against outside opposition, although both required penalty shoot-outs.
Zak Drew gave the Foresters the lead after 17 minutes at The Causeway against former league rivals and now Isthmian South Central side Thatcham Town.
Daniel Fosu equalised on the half-hour mark.
Ben Brooks looked to have sealed Cinderford`s passage when he made it 2-1 with only 4 minutes to go.
But Fosu`s second in time added on sent the tie to a shoot-out which Cinderford edged 5-4.
Berkhamsted travelled to Thatcham`s league rivals Northwood and this one also ended 2-2 after normal time.
The Woods twice had the lead through Adam Cash after 14 minutes which James Verney cancelled out 7 minutes later, and then on 43 minutes through Ismael Ehui which Lucas Kirkpatrick eventually levelled from the spot in the 73rd minute.
Berko held their nerve to win 6-5 on penalties.
Exiting the Trophy against outside opposition were Division One Central side Harlow Town, beaten 2-1 at Isthmian South Central Bedfont Sports, whose Ezekiel Bademosi after just 4 minutes and then a last-gasp own goal from sub Marcus Marku were enough, despite Robbie Rees` 17th-minute equaliser.
Harlow`s league rivals Waltham Abbey were hammered 5-0 at Nyewood Lane by Isthmian Premier Division side Bognor Regis Town, for whom Nathan Odokonyero netted a first half hat-trick with Jordy Mongoy and sub Kayne Diedrick-Roberts adding two more in the second half.
Three Premier Division South teams exited to Isthmian Premier opposition.
Metropolitan Police lost 2-1 at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium against Enfield Town, who led through Mu Faal`s 36th minute effort.
Luke Robertson levelled for the Met on the hour-mark, but an 83rd-minute penalty converted by Andre Coker saw Town through.
Hendon were beaten by the same scoreline at The Fullicks Stadium by Folkestone Invicta where Scott Heard gave the hosts a 38th-minute lead that Shaun Lucien levelled right on half-time.
Adam Yusuff popped up with Invicta`s winner in the 56th minute.
And at Hartsdown Park, Beaconsfield Town lost 2-0 to Margate, for whom Crossley Lema and Ben Greenhalgh scored within 5 minutes of each other midway through the second half.
Two Premier Division Central clubs exited the Trophy at the homes of Northern Premier League Premier Division sides.
Barwell had the advantage of playing against Nantwich Town with ten-men for 79 minutes at the Weaver Stadium after Prince Haywood received a straight red card.
Kyron Stabana gave the Canaries the lead 10 minutes later only for Connor O`Riordan to equalise for the Dabbers just before the break.
And the ten-men won it when Joe Mwasile scored on the hour-mark.
And at The Proctor Cars Stadium, AFC Rushden & Diamonds were beaten 2-1 by Matlock Town, whose Alex Byrne broke the deadlock just shy of the hour-mark and then Jesu Uchegbulam made it 2-0 just 5 minutes later.
Ravi Shamsi reduced the deficit 8 minute from time, but the Gladiators held firm.
And Paulton Rovers were comprehensively dumped out 5-1 at home by Division One South rivals Larkhall Athletic.
The Larks took a first-minute lead when they were awarded a penalty which Lewis Powell converted.
They added a second 2 minutes later through Dan Crumb and made it 3-0 on 27 minutes through Tom Fry.
Rovers pulled a goal back as Leighton Thomas curled in a 40th-minute free-kick.
Matt Baker scrambled a fourth goal after 65 minutes and with 5 minutes left, Powell made it 5-1 with his second of the tie.
