Yate Go Nap at Home to Salisbury

No taking the foot off the gas for Bluebells!

Dave Sims-Burgess - brace

Yate Town, who have sold all their tickets for this Saturday`s Emirates FA Cup First Round tie at home to Yeovil Town, could have been forgiven for having their eye on that game when they entertained Salisbury in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central on Tuesday night.

But Paul Michael`s team were totally focussed and produced a terrific performance to beat the Whites 5-2 at the South West Interiors Stadium to move into ninth place in the table, a point and a place behind Steve Claridge`s side.

It took just 8 minutes for the Bluebells to take the lead when a mix-up in the Salisbury defence allowed Joe Tumelty to fire past Patrick O`Flaherty in the visitors` goal.

The Whites were level though after 19 minutes through Marvin Brooks but on the half-hour mark, Yate were back in front, courtesy of a neat finish from Ricardo Rees.

Five minutes before half-time, Yate made it 3-1 when Dave Sims-Burgess finished off a fine move.

It got worse for Salisbury just 3 minutes into the second half when another defensive lapse allowed James Harding in to dink a cute finish over O`Flaherty.

Then on 68 minutes, the Bluebells made it a nap hand when a through ball from Sam Kamara was seized on by Sims-Burgess to score his second of the evening.

Jack Ball netted an 87th minute second for the visitors but it was scant consolation on what was an excellent night for Yate.
