Frome Town, who enjoyed a fine win over Poole Town in the Buildbase FA Trophy last weekend, moved three points clear at the top of the Pitching In Southern League Division One South table on Tuesday night with a ruthless display against bottom side Barnstaple Town.
The Devonians made the trip up to Somerset on the back of eleven straight league defeats with only 7 goals scored and 53 conceded.
Frome were on a run of five successive wins in all competitions and were unbeaten at home this season, making it a very tough test for anyone.
It took only 6 minutes for Frome to take the lead with Martin Lenihan`s first goal of the season.
Credit Barum though as they battled back to level just 5 minutes later through Will Tucker.
However, by half-time the game was done and dusted with Kane Simpson netting an amazing 4-minute hat-trick starting in the 28th minute and then Alex Monks making it 5-1 at the break.
The crowd of 324 were kept warm by more Frome goals with Monks bagging his second on 57 minutes swiftly followed by a Jack Witcombe effort 3 minutes later and then Jon Davies got on the scoresheet a minute later.
Luis Edmondson got a second for the visitors, who never stopped battling, in the 71st minute, but a fourth for Simpson 2 minutes from time made it 9-2.
