Gosport happy at the end of the game
In front of a decent crowd of 454 at the Easy As HGV Stadium, Boro saw off Tiverton Town 2-0.
But it took 69 minutes to break down the Devonians defence when Seth Owens scored.
And the points were sealed with a Louie Paget penalty as time ticked into the 90-minute mark.
Gosport Borough moved level on points with Hayes & Yeading in third after a 2-1 Privett Park victory over Beaconsfield Town.
Ryan Woodford gave Boro a 14th minute lead that Nathan Minhas eventually cancelled out in the 63rd minute.
But with 7 minutes remaining, sub Sirigui Dembele popped up with Gosport`s winner.
Injury-hit Poole Town are fourth, a point behind Gosport, after a fine 4-2 win at the Elmbridge Sports Hub against Walton Casuals.
Tony Lee gave the Dolphins the lead after 10 minutes when he converted a penalty that he had earned after being brought down in the box.
And 8 minutes later, Lee repeated his expertise from 12 yards after Will Spetch had been caught late in the area.
Mitchal Gough reduced the deficit after 24 minutes to leave the scoreline 2-1 to the visitors at the break.
Then on 63 minutes, top scorer Lee completed his hat-trick, this time from close range from open play.
And a few minutes later, Lee made it a hat-trick of penalties and his fourth of the afternoon when new loanee Teddy Davey was taken out.
Joe Morrison pulled a second back for the Stags 15 minutes from time but they couldn`t inflict any more damage on the Poole defence.
It`s not been a good week for Salisbury.

Merthyr couldn`t find a response in the second half as Truro defended well and 8 minutes from time the hosts were reduced to ten-men when they had Connor Davies sent-off for a second bookable offence.
Fourth-bottom Dorchester Town, with new boss Glenn Howes watching on, were beaten 1-0 at the Webbswood Stadium by Swindon Supermarine.
Loanee Kieran Phillips grabbed the only goal of the game 3 minutes into the second half.
Hartley Wintney in 17th suffered a 4-2 loss at the Meadow against a now 11th-placed Chesham United.
Sam Argent gave the Row an early 6th-minute lead that Brad Clayton levelled with a lovely curling effort a minute before half-time.
The Generals were in front on the hour-mark when Karl Oliyide goes through and was brought by `keeper Sam Freeman who earned himself a yellow card.
Clayton netted his second of the game from the resulting penalty.
Four minutes later, a goalmouth scramble finished with Mark Kirby being credited with an own goal to make it 2-2.
A great strike from Zak Joseph put the home side in front in the 81st minute and then 2 minutes into stoppage time, Clayton completed his hat-trick with a second successful spot-kick after sub Deese Kasinga had been hauled down.
