AFC Dunstable Move Into Third Spot

AFC Dunstable moved level on points with second-placed Berkhamsted in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central on Sunday afternoon after winning 2-1 at FC Romania.

A clash of home fixtures with ground landlords Cheshunt meant FC Romania had to play on Sunday.

And it was the visitors who settled the better, taking a 17th-minute lead when Alasan Ann reacted quickest to a half-hit effort from Jervon Campbell to fire past Lincoln Marques in the home goal.

AFC held that lead until half-time, but just 5 minutes after the interval, FC Romania equalised with a shot from 25 yards from Sean Bonnett-Johnson.

But on 65 minutes, the visitors were back in front when top scorer BJ Christie got on the end of a through ball to slot past Marques.

The hosts came remarkably close to snatching a point in the very last minute, but AFC keeper Jamie Head made a fine point-blank save from Kieran Bishop.
