Bromsgrove Sporting Appoint Hurren

New manager for Rouslers.

Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central club Bromsgrove Sporting have announced the appointment of Gavin Hurren as their new manager.

Hurren has led the club impressively in a four-match interim period, which has included good league draws against in-form Nuneaton Borough and Tamworth, plus overseeing the Rouslers` passage through to the First Round of the Buildbase FA Trophy.

Hurren was originally in Nottingham Forest’s youth set-up before becoming an integral part of the Kidderminster Harriers side under Mark Yates, which earned its place in the first competitive final at the ‘new’ Wembley.

He went on to play for the likes of Bromsgrove Rovers, King`s Lynn, Mansfield Town, Hednesford Town and Tamworth and then had spells playing semi-pro football in Australia with Melbourne Carolina Spring George Cross in 2010.

Upon his return to England, he turned out for Evesham United, Stourbridge and Solihull Moors.

He has since had a spell as player-manager of Gresley Rovers and been on the coaching staff at Walsall Wood and Stourbridge before joining the Rouslers earlier this season.

Chairman Mike Burke told his club`s website: “It was important for the club that we chose the right person to take the club forward. After careful consideration, we believe Gavin is the right choice.

“We did have to consider Gavin along with all the other applicants. He knew when offering to help us as part of the interim management team that doing so would have no bearing on our choice of new manager, win or lose.

“We will, as always, support the manager to achieve the success that this club deserves and I’m sure the fans will also be getting behind Gavin and his team”.
