Butterworth Duals With Bedford

Pitching In Southern League Division One Central club Bedford Town have signed midfielder Joe Butterworth on dual registration with Northern Premier League Division One Midlands side Stamford AFC.

The 26-year-old signed for the Daniels in June 2021 from new league rivals Yaxley.

The son of former Rushden & Diamonds, Peterborough United and England semi-professional international Gary Butterworth, who also had a spell with Stamford, Joe is an energetic and skillful attacking midfielder who signed for Yaxley in October 2016.

He arrived at Leading Drove following the sad demise of Whittlesey Athletic.

Bedford boss Gary Setchell told his club`s website: "Joe is an energetic midfielder, who will cause problems for the sides we face over the next few weeks. Losing both Callum Donnelly and Danny Setchell is a blow but bringing a player of Joe's quality in will help to fill that gap created by them both being unavailable".
