Sad News For Melksham as Skipper is Forced to Retire

Pitching In Southern League Division One South club Melksham Town have announced that captain Greg Tindle has decided to retire with immediate effect as he is due a hip operation soon.

The vastly experienced 32-year-old defender started and finished his non-League career at Melksham and desperately wanted to finish the season, but the pain and hindrance of the hip injury made it impossible.

Tindle returned to Melksham in May from Weston-super-Mare, who he joined after they were relegated to the Southern Premier Division South at the end of the 2018/19 season, from former league rivals Chippenham Town.

He was previously with Chippenham for three years before re-joining the Bluebirds in February 2013 via Frome Town and Calne Town.

Before his first spell with Chippenham, he progressed through the ranks at Oxford United, signing a professional contract at the age of 18. However, an injury-hit season led to him being released in the summer of 2008 where he went on to join Melksham, then of the Toolstation Western League Premier Division.
