FC Romania Put on Sunday Best

Aylesbury United missed the opportunity to move to within a point of the top five in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central on Sunday afternoon when they were beaten 3-1 at Theobalds Lane by FC Romania.

It was the hosts, playing on a Sabbath due to ground landlords Cheshunt having a Buildbase FA Trophy tie at home on Saturday, who took a 32nd-minute lead through Tobi Coker.

But then right on the stroke of half-time, a series of errors at the back by the hosts ended up with the newly returned Ezra Anthony-Forde poking home the Ducks` equaliser.

FC Romania re-took the lead though on the hour-mark when Zenon Stylianides scored at the second attempt after his first effort had been blocked.

And with the visitors pushing forward looking for an equaliser, FC Romania made sure of the three points when a shot took a massive deflection off Jaedon Phillips and looped over the Ducks` keeper.

The result puts FC Romania level on points with the Ducks, who still possess a game in hand.
