Irish Coup for Barnstaple

Pitching In Southern League Division One South club Barnstaple Town have pulled off something of a coup by signing experienced goalkeeper Lloyd Irish from Southern League Premier Division South side Taunton Town.

The 31-year-old made a total of over 350 appearances for the Peacocks, including 5 this term.

He moves to Devon after ending his second spell with Taunton, having previously joined from Yeovil Town in 2008.

He won the Peacocks` supporters’ player of the year award in 2009 before leaving a year later to become first choice at Weston-super-Mare for several seasons.

He then signed for Bideford AFC in the summer of 2014 but soon switched to Taunton in October later that year.

He was a virtual ever-present until this season, winning consecutive players’ player awards as well as the supporters’ vote again in 2016/17 and helping Taunton to win promotion to the Premier Division.
