Wells Returns to Trawlerboys

Making his return to Lowestoft Town in their 4-2 defeat at Redditch United in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central on Saturday was defender Josh Wells.

Trawlerboys` manager Jamie Godbold has brought the 19-year-old back to Crown Meadow from Championship side Middlesbrough on an initial month`s loan.

The former Lowestoft academy product, who has played first-team football for the Trawlerboys and Thurlow Nunn League side Thetford Town, joined Boro on a professional contract in July 2021 after impressing on trial with their under-18s and under-23s.

Godbold told Lowestoft`s website: "Josh needs game time and we need players we can trust that will roll up their sleeves and fight for the club, Josh will do that, I've no doubt.

“We have picked up some injuries to defensive players in recent weeks so being able to get this done was a great help. We are continuing to work on bringing people in to help the squad through our run-in, but we know that not everyone we talk to will have the right mentality to scrapping away at the bottom of the league, so we need to be sure we are getting in the right people too".
