Sad News

The Pitching In Southern Football League are saddened to hear of the passing of former referee and secretary of Premier Division South club Beaconsfield Town, Robin Woolman.

Robin was a prominent figure in the local grassroots scene as a referee, instructor and assessor as well as being a long-standing servant of the Rams, along with his wife Ann, and the Berks & Bucks FA.

In 2013, he was honoured by the Football Association for 50 years’ service to the game.

As a referee, he took charge of well over 5,200 matches at senior and youth level having realised at a young age that he wasn’t a very good player!

Woolman's progression as a match official led to roles as a referee training instructor, assessor and mentor. Such positions have allowed him to influence generations of sports men and women.

He joined Beaconsfield as club secretary in June 2005 but continued refereeing youth football until 2014.

Our thoughts are with Robin`s wife, family and friends at this time.
