Charlie Dowd - crucial goal
And those were Peterborough Sports finishing as runners-up, Alvechurch pipping AFC Rushden & Diamonds to the final play-off spot and Barwell finishing in that third-from-bottom spot.
There must have been been a few nerves at Victory Road after Peterborough Sports could only manage a 0-0 draw with Leiston as victory for Coalville Town at Stourbridge would mean the Ravens would have snatched second spot.
It was unusual for the Turbines to be unable to find the net but it was a fairly even game in Suffolk.
At the War Memorial Athletic Ground, Stourbridge took a 2-0 lead through Joe Hull after 14 minutes and it was swiftly followed by an Ethan Moran effort.
Tyrell Waite finished a one-on-one with the Glassboys `keeper to make it 2-1 on 31 minutes, but again, just 2 minutes later, Reece Styche got hold of a long ball to make it 3-1 to the hosts.
But right on half-time, Eliot Putman reduced the deficit to just one and just 6 minutes after the restart, Tom McGlinchey pulled the Ravens back on level terms.
Waite hit the Stourbridge post but then on 80 minutes, Hull scored his second of the game to seal the home side’s win.
That means Peterborough Sports will play fifth-placed Alvechurch at The Bee Arena on Tuesday night in the play-offs and Coalville will host Rushall Olympic at the Mander Cruickshank Solicitors Stadium on the same night.
Rushall beat already relegated Lowestoft Town 3-1 at Dales Lane, although they trailed at half-time to a 39th minute Travis Cole effort.
Alex Moore equalised just shy of the hour-mark and Danny Glover then put the Pics ahead on 77 minutes, with Ben Usher-Shipway making sure with a third 5 minutes from time.
The majority of a crowd of 644 went home disappointed from Hayden Road after AFC Rushden & Diamonds suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to a Nuneaton Borough side who needed the points to avoid finishing third-from-bottom.
A goal from Charlie Dowd after 33 minutes which went in off a post after Diamonds` keeper Dean Snedker had got a hand to it, eventually proved to be a crucial one for Jimmy Ginnelly’s men.
But for interim boss Andy Burgess` side, that defeat and Alvechurch’s 3-1 win against Royston Town at Lye Meadow meant they dropped to sixth and it is Ian Long’s side who take on Peterborough Sports in the play-offs.
Alvechurch had to come back from being a 19th minute Adam Murray goal down, with Nick Clayton-Phillips equalising on 33 minutes.
Danny Waldron then gave the hosts the lead after 57 minutes and Zak Brown’s third on 69 minutes sealed a big win for the Worcestershire side.
At the start of the day, Nuneaton, Hitchin Town, Bromsgrove Sporting or Barwell could all finish in that third-from-bottom spot,
Barwell’s 4-3 defeat at the UK Flooring Direct Stadium to Hednesford Town saw them finish in that spot, although it appears they will be reprieved anyway due to possessing a superior points-per-game ratio.
Lewis Ludford-Ison gave the Pitmen an early 5th-minute lead that Ben Stephens levelled 6 minutes later, only for Todd Parker to restore the visitors` lead just 4 minutes after that.
Leroy Lita made it 3-1 to Hednesford in the 32nd minute but Barwell responded quickly with a second for top scorer Stephens just 4 minutes later.
Six minutes after half-time, Josh Webb gave the Pitmen a 4-2 advantage that Tyler Haddow cut to one almost immediately.
And that’s how the scoreline remained, with the visitors hitting the crossbar late on.
Hitchin had a crowd of 777 at Top Field for their clash with Bromsgrove.
And after a subdued opening 45 minutes, the game finally came to life with a terrific goal from Jacob Hutchinson with 11 minutes remaining to seal the Canaries win.
Elsewhere, Tamworth finished the season with a 14th game unbeaten under Andy Peaks, although they had to be content with a point from a 1-1 draw at home to St Ives Town.
It was the Lambs who took a 23rd-minute lead through Wahib Tahra.
A fine team goal finished off by Ethan Johnston pulled the Saints level 4 minutes before the break.
Tamworth supporters in the 640 crowd will feel a little hard done by though – as will Dexter Walters, who hit the post twice in 7 minutes just after the hour-mark – the first with a 30-yard effort!
Already relegated Biggleswade Town shared a 0-0 draw at Langford Road against Redditch United, whilst champions Banbury United didn’t take their foot off the gas as they won 4-1 at Bloomfields against Suffolk Premier Cup winners Needham Market with goals from Morgan Roberts after 32 minutes, James Golding 5 minutes before the break and then Roberts again on 71 minutes and Jack Stevens 3 minutes into stoppage time after Seth Chambers had reduced the deficit for the Marketmen.
