Lambs Return for Curley

Defender Matt Curley has re-joined Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central club Tamworth.

The 27-year-old helped Buxton win the Northern Premier League Premier Division title last season, playing 49 times, having joined the Bucks in February 2020.

A right-back, he is a versatile player who can also operate in midfield and has filled in occasionally on the left.

He had spells playing at Romulus, Rugby Town, Chasetown and Sutton Coldfield Town before signing for the Lambs` league rivals Hednesford Town from Tamworth in November 2017.

He re-joined the Pitmen towards the end of the 2018/19 season after a brief spell at Halesowen Town.

Tamworth boss Andy Peaks told his club’s website: “I have tracked Matt for a while, and even though he could have stayed at Buxton where he won promotion to the National League, he is attracted to our club.

“He is a solid player who likes what we are trying to do here and our ambition to do well at Tamworth.

“I identified the back four as a key area to stabilise when I came in, hence why I have strengthened most of the areas within it. "It is important to have quality competition in all positions”.
