Reprieved Martyrs Bring in Exciting Youngster

Merthyr Town, reprieved from relegation from the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South, have agreed terms with Abubacarr Sama from Goytre FC.

Manager Paul Michael has strengthened his midfield options with the arrival of Sama, who will add real talent to what is going to be an exciting midfield this coming season.

Last season, Sama made 27 appearances for the Plough Road outfit in the Ardal Southern League Division East - Tier 3 of the Welsh pyramid.

He has also featured for several other Welsh League clubs, including Caerau Ely, despite only recently turning 20.

Michael told his club’s website: “This lad is a special player.

“I watched him twice at the end of last season and within 5 minutes of the first game, I was texting smudge saying we need to get hold of this kid.

“He’s so quick over the ground, technically gifted, well balanced, changes direction with ease, he’s an attacking player so, so versatile.

“Abu’s not the finished article but he knows that and wants to come here to improve, and I believe we can help him continue to develop as a player which Goytre have obviously helped him do this season so credit where it’s due.

“But make no mistake Abu has some talents that you can’t coach and hopefully we can help him with tactical detail and an environment where he can excel. I can’t wait for the supporters to see him play”.
