Two Keepers Added to Citizens Books

Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South new boys Winchester City have brought back last season’s players` player of the year, goalkeeper Charlie Philpott, on a season-long loan from Vanarama National League neighbours Eastleigh.

The 20-year-old enjoyed an outstanding 2021/22 campaign with the Citizens in his second spell on loan with the club, making 37 appearances and playing a major part in their play-off success from Division One South.

Philpott had come through the academy ranks Eastleigh.

He was skipper of the Spitfires` under-18 side for two seasons and is also a Welsh Futsal international with 3 caps to his name already.

A keeper with good distribution, communication and reactions, he plays Futsal for Reading Royal.

Winchester have signed a second keeper – and it’s another familiar face to supporters in Jordi Valero, who had a spell with City’s under-23s a few seasons back.

He re-joined the club from Wessex League neighbours Romsey Town, where he had been since December 2020.

He was previously with Alresford Town in the past and has also played for Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division side Cribbs.
