Warren Returns North of the Border

Gary Warren has left Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South club Tiverton Town and is set to join Scottish Premiership side Ross County in a new youth academy role and will take the title of Head of Professional Academy from the beginning of next month.

The 37-year-old, a qualified PE teacher and sport, exercise science and coaching lecturer with UEFA A and B licences, is re-locating from Bristol after leaving the Yellows, for whom he made 39 appearances and scored 4 goals last season.

He has also signed to play for Highland League side Clachnacuddin.

The vastly experienced defender ended a six-year stay north of the border to join Vanarama National League side Yeovil Town.

Signing from Inverness Caledonian Thistle, the Bristolian returned south in the summer of 2018 to sign a two-year deal.

The Caley Jags captain, he left the Scottish Highlands after leading the club to three cup finals which included lifting the Scottish Challenge Cup in March.

Despite a difficult season for the Glovers, his leadership skills caught the attention of then-fellow League Two side Exeter City, who were quick to swoop for the experienced centre-back the following summer.

He moved to National League outfit Torquay United in the summer of 2020 and then signed for Tiverton in July 2021.
