Jake Weaver moves to Dales Lane following his recent departure from Vanarama National League North side Leamington.
The 25-year-old had returned to Leamington in August 2020 on a permanent basis following his release from Championship side Birmingham City.
He originally joined the Brakes on a season-long loan from Birmingham, having just signed a new one-year contract with the Blues.
The keeper had been a regular for the Blues under-23s under Leamington`s former player-coach Richard Beale, having been at the club since the age of 12, and was no stranger to the National League, having spent time on loan at Hungerford Town and Kidderminster Harriers in 2018/19, along with a further spell at Hednesford Town.
He made 42 appearances for the Brakes in 2019/20 before the season was cut short by the pandemic and impressed enough to be voted supporters` player of the year.
Manager Liam McDonald told his club’s website: “He’s got really good experience at Step 2 and it’s a coup for us to get his signature.
“He has come in for the last couple of games and done very well.
“I am delighted to get such a quality and highly sought-after goalkeeper in for the new season.”
McDonald has also signed emerging defender Aaron Harper-Bailey.
The powerful youngster has impressed during pre-season to earn himself a deal at Dales Lane.
McDonald added: “This lad has so much potential.
“He’s made the step up and been fantastic; in fact, it’s been a long time since I have seen a player of this ability and physique emerge from this level of football.
“We really believe in him, and we’re delighted to have him here. We’re excited to watch him continue to develop and grow as a player”.
