Weston beat Yate Town by the odd goal in five at the Optima Stadium in front of a crowd of 610.

However, it was the Bluebells who took the lead after 9 minutes with a deflected Ollie Mehew effort.

The Seagulls equalised after 17 minutes with a fine strike from Dayle Grubb.

But it was the visitors who struck again on 29 minutes with a terrific volley from new signing Barney Soady.

Right on half-time though, Weston levelled again when Rueben Reid fired past Martin Horsell in the Yate goal.

It was nip and tuck in the second half but the home side grabbed a 90th-minute winner when they were awarded a penalty after Marlon Jackson had been fouled at a corner and Grubb duly converted to make it 3-2.

Beaconsfield have started well and inflicted a first defeat on Metropolitan Police with a 3-2 win at Imber Court.

Eitel Gouth gave the Rams a great start with a goal inside 5 minutes.

And Nathan Minhas doubled the visitors` advantage on the half-hour mark, only for Herson Alves to respond to reduce the arrears within 4 minutes.

But Dan Bradshaw made it 3-1 just 4 minutes after the break and the Met’s chances diminished with the 55th-minute dismissal of Alves for a second bookable offence.

However, it was the ten-men who scored again, with Mason Galloway pulling a second back.

First wins of the new campaign were recorded by newly promoted Winchester City, Hartley Wintney and Merthyr Town.

The Citizens won 4-2 at another newly promoted side, North Leigh, who are finding life at Step 3 tough so far with three successive defeats.

Levi Steele gave the Millers the lead after 12 minutes.

Max Smith equalised on 26 minutes and then Warren Bentley struck a beauty right on half-time to give City the lead and there was still time for Alex McAllister to add a third for the visitors in first half injury-time.

Claudio Herbert eventually made it 4-1 in the 70th minute but Steele made for a nervy finale when he notched his and North Leigh’s second a couple of minutes later.

Hartley Wintney secured a good 3-1 win at the Ray Mac against Salisbury, for whom this was a second successive defeat.

The Row could barely have wished for a better start with a goal from Kyen Nicholas after just 25 seconds.

And with only 5 minutes gone, Zidan Akers doubled the visitors` lead with a fine strike from outside the area.

Brandon Goodship pulled one back for the Whites in the 17th minute, only for Nicholas to score his second and the Row’s third just 5 minutes from the break.

Merthyr inflicted a first defeat on Tiverton Town by winning 2-0 at the Met Coaches Stadium in front of 547.

The Martyrs` Ricardo Rees struck a post in the first half but it ended goalless.

However, the second half was only 2 minutes old when Kieran Evans fired Merthyr in front.

And they made sure in the 86th minute when they were awarded a penalty for a foul by Josh Jones and Rees duly converted.

Hendon suffered a third successive defeat at the SKY ex Community Stadium against title favourites Hayes & Yeading United.

A neat chip from the prolific Moses Emmanuel after 18 minutes eventually proved enough for the home side.

Plymouth Parkway suffered a second successive defeat on the road, losing 3-1 at the Avenue Stadium to Dorchester Town, for whom this was a second win.

It was the Devonians who took a 37th-minute lead when new loan signing Jared Lewington scored from close range.

The Magpies equalised on 57 minutes with a Kieran Douglas header from a corner and then on 73 minutes, another corner led to Callum Buckley giving Dorchester the lead.

Seven minutes later, Shaquille Gwengwe added the Magpies third with a neat finish.

Promoted Hanwell Town recorded a second win at Step 3 level by inflicting Chesham United’s first defeat in a 2-0 win at the Powerday Stadium.

It wasn’t until the 84th minute that the Geordies managed to break the deadlock with a scrambled effort from sub Kain Adom.

And then 3 minutes later, Conrad Lucan made sure of the first points under lights at Premier Division level was achieved.
