Bank Holiday Monday's Premier Division South Round-Up

Weston-super-Mare and Truro City maintained their unbeaten starts in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Seagulls enjoyed a good 4-1 win at Bolitho Park against a Plymouth Parkway side who are struggling after winning promotion at the end of last season.

In front of a crowd of 599, Reuben Reid gave the visitors a 14th-minute lead that Callum Rose levelled after 23 minutes.

However, Will Tunnicliff restored Weston’s lead a minute before half-time.

Elis Watts made it 3-1 with 15 minutes remaining and seconds later, Dayle Grubb converted a penalty after Jordan Bastin had been brought down to make the final score 4-1.

Weston now have a two-point lead on top of the fledgling table as Truro were held to a 1-1 draw at the Ian Moorcroft Stadium by Tiverton Town.

The White Tigers led at the break, courtesy of a 39th-minute Tyler Harvey goal.

And they held that advantage until 12 minutes from time when sub Matt Buchan pounced to pull the Yellows back on level terms.

As well as Parkway, Hendon and Harrow Borough have also yet to record a win in 2022/23.

Hendon went down to a best-of-five-goal defeat at Silver Jubilee Park to Metropolitan Police.

And that, despite taking a 10th-minute lead through Joe White.

Ollie Knight eventually equalised 6 minutes into the second half, only for Sol Sambou to restore the Greens` lead on the hour-mark.

Herson Alves pulled the Met back on level terms in the 76th minute and 5 minutes from time, substitute Archy Taylor won it for Gavin MacPherson’s men.

Harrow were also beaten on their own Earlsmead patch by fancied Hayes & Yeading United.

And Paul Hughes` side had to come back from being a 14th-minute James Ewington goal behind to win – and also survive the second half with ten-men.

Paul Hodges equalised 8 minutes later but Hayes & Yeading had newcomer Rayan Clarke shown a straight red card right on the stroke of half-time.

But the prolific Moses Emmanuel scored what proved to be the winner from the spot 4 minutes into the second half.

Chesham United, newcomers Hanwell Town and Dorchester Town hold the other early top five spots after Monday’s games.

Chesham recorded back-to-back Bank Holiday wins after a 1-0 success at The Meadow against newly promoted North Leigh.

It was a goal on the hour-marl from Karl Oliyide that eventually proved the difference, following up his brace at Bracknell Town on Saturday.

Hanwell shared a 2-2 draw at Holloways Park against Beaconsfield Town.

But the Geordies showed their fighting spirit as they had to come back from being a brace of Nathan Minhas goals down to salvage a draw.

Minhas scored in the 3rd and 47th minutes for the Rams.

Chid Onokwai pulled one back just past the hour-mark and then Mark Waters equalised with 9 minutes remaining.

Dorchester were held to a 0-0 draw at Lodge Road by Yate Town – the Magpies first draw.

Bank Holiday Monday also saw wins for Swindon Supermarine, Gosport Borough, Salisbury and new boys Bracknell Town.

Supermarine recovered from Saturday’s loss at Salisbury to beat Merthyr Town 2-1 at the Webbswood Stadium.

Harry Williams opened the scoring after 20 minutes to give `Marine a lead they held until right on the stroke of half-time when Ricardo Rees equalised.

Williams won it for the hosts on 68 minutes when he scored from the penalty spot.

Gosport inflicted a 5-1 hammering on Parkway on Saturday, but it took only one to beat the team who came up with the champions from Division One South last season, Winchester City.

Kyal Williams gave Boro the lead at the Charters Community Stadium after 34 minutes.

But they were forced to hang on for most of the second half with ten-men after Harry Jewitt-White was sent-off for an off-the-ball incident in the 51st minute.

Salisbury also recorded successive Bank Holiday wins after beating Poole Town 2-1 at the BlackGold Stadium in front of a crowd of 632.

The Dolphins, who also won on Saturday, broke the deadlock to take the lead on 61 minutes through Toby Holmes.

However, that lead lasted barely 6 minutes as Devon Arnold levelled for Steve Claridge’s side.

And with 11 minutes remaining, Sukjae Lee, recently signed from Havant & Waterlooville, came off the bench to win it for the Whites.

Bracknell were the bookmakers` favourites to go straight up and recovered from their first defeat at home to Chesham on Saturday to beat Hartley Wintney 2-1 at The Memorial Fields.

The Robins got off to a great start with a goal inside the opening minute from Jordan Esprit.

Aaron McLeish-White pulled the Row back on terms 13 minutes later.

But Mickel Platt scored what proved to be Bracknell’s winner in the 63rd minute.
