Leiston Borrow Former Marketman

Leiston, who have made a good start to the 2022/23 season in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central, have brought in forward Ben Fowkes on loan from Vanarama National League South side Braintree Town.

The 23-year-old joined the Iron in June from Leiston’s Suffolk league rivals Needham Market.

He had been with the Marketmen since August 2020 after arriving from Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division side Norwich United where he was voted their supporters` player of the season for 2019/20.

He notched 26 goals - including four hat-tricks - and assisted 7 further goals.

He had joined the Planters in March 2019 from the then-Marketmen`s league rivals Lowestoft Town, for whom he made 30 appearances in 2018/19, scoring 5 goals.

The former Wroxham and Norwich CBS re-joined the Trawlerboys in the summer of 2018 after impressing on trial, having been with the club during the 2015/16 season on a dual registration with Diss Town.
