It was a battle between the Berkshire Robins and the Cheshire Robins at The SB Stadium and the Step 1 visitors took a 9th-minute lead when Tyrese Sinclair’s effort from the edge of the area beat Bracknell `keeper Michael Eacott, who will probably be disappointed to have let it get past him.
However, the hosts came back well after that set-back and almost levelled after 28 minutes when a shot from Kameron English came back off the underside of the crossbar.
To the frustration of the home side, it later was proven that the ball had, in fact, crossed the line.
Three minutes later though, Altrincham increased their lead when Jordan Hulme finished well from a corner.
The 2-0 half-time lead was arguably a little flattering on the higher-grade visitors as Bracknell had more than enough of the play.
In the second half, Bracknell continued to threaten and managed to reduce the deficit in the 66th minute when a miscued effort was diverted by Guy Hollis and looped over Altrincham `keeper Oliver Byrne.
Bracknell continued to cause problems but were hit with a sucker punch in the 88th minute when substitutes Maxi Oyedele and Armando Junior Quitirna combined for the latter to make it 3-1 and tie over.
So, Bracknell’s marvellous run is over, but they have been a credit to the league, being the only club from the three Trident Leagues to make it to the last 16 - and what might have been had we had VAR!!
