Canaries Borrow Young Arsenal Keeper

Premier League Arsenal’s young goalkeeper Brian Okonkwo will be featuring for Hitchin Town this weekend as they face Nuneaton Borough in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central.

The 17-year-old has been drafted in after the Canaries` regular number one, Charlie Horlock, was sent-off after receiving two yellow cards in the game against Stourbridge last week, meaning he would be suspended for the Nuneaton game.

Hitchin manager Mark Burke immediately started contacting other managers to try and bring in a loan replacement keeper but with no luck.

So he turned to former Hitchin Town defender Ken Gillard, who is a senior member of Arsenal’s academy backroom staff and he agreed to allow Okonkwo, who plays for Arsenal under-18s, to play against Nuneaton.

He is 6`4” tall and has been at Arsenal since he was 10 years old.
