Powerful midfielder Simon Njaria-Leighan has arrived from Northern Premier League Premier Division side Matlock Town.
The well-travelled 28-year-old had joined NPL Division One West side Mossley AFC in August 2019 and then switched to then-NPL Premier outfit Buxton just before Christmas 2019 before joining then-league rivals Radcliffe in July 2020 and then another, Matlock, in June 2022.
He began his career as a junior with Leeds United and whilst at Elland Road he had loan spells with Bradford Park Avenue and Halifax Town before joining Harrogate Town upon his release by Leeds in the summer of 2014.
Spells with Frickley Athletic, Rotherham United, Warrington Town, Altrincham, the sadly now defunct Shaw Lane AFC, Guiseley AFC, Glossop North End and FC Halifax Town followed.
He joined National League North side AFC Telford United on dual registration in January 2021.
And Basford also announced the arrival of energetic attacking midfielder Jonathan Wafula from Northern Premier League Division One East side Grantham Town in a loan swap that sees Gregg Smith head in the other direction until the end of the season.
Wafula, 28, joined the Gingerbreads from Matlock in September 2021.
A former Chesterfield trainee has also played for Worksop Town and Shaw Lane AFC before signing for Boston United in February 2018 after severing ties with then-National League North rivals Gainsborough Trinity.
He transferred to then-National League North rivals Guiseley AFC in August 2020, then to Matlock in June 2021.
