Shaq Gwengwe - brace
So, that gave leaders Weston-super-Mare the opportunity to extend their advantage at the top when they travelled to The Meadow to take on fifth-placed Chesham United.
It was goalless at half-time in front of 385 with very little separating the two teams.
But when the deadlock was finally broken, 20 minutes from time, it was the Generals who achieved it when Jeanmal Prosper’s headed back across goal into the far corner past Weston `keeper Luke Purnell.
It looked as if Scott Bartlett’s visitors were heading for defeat, until in the 86th minute, a Lloyd Humphries corner was cleared but the ball went straight back to the taker, who fired past Dante Baptiste from 25 yards to earn a valuable point which moves them five points clear of Truro, now having played a game more.
Tuesday’s other game saw Harrow Borough pushed further into the relegation mire after losing 2-1 at The Rogers Family Stadium to mid-table Dorchester Town.
It’s a really worrying run that Steve Baker’s Boro side are currently on and this defeat sees them enter the busy Easter period on the back of twelve games without a league win – their last coming on February 4th.
The Magpies took a 39th minute lead when Matt Neale set up Shaq Gwengwe, whose shot was blocked by a Harrow defender’s hand, and Gwengwe duly converted the resulting penalty.
Eight minutes into the second half, Dorchester doubled their lead with another penalty and again it was Gwengwe who earned it and scored it after he had been brought down by Hamilton Bunga.
Harrow battled hard to get back into the game and they pulled one back on 68 minutes through Johnny Allotey, but were unable to find a leveller.
Defeat leaves Boro still in third-bottom spot, six points behind the safety mark.
