Parkway Agree for Truro to Remain at Bolitho Park for Another Season

Plymouth Parkway have agreed an extension for Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South rivals Truro City to remain at Bolitho Park for an additional season.

Chairman Mark Russell told his club’s website: “Discussions have been ongoing for a few weeks over an agreement to allow Truro to remain at Bolitho for an additional season, while they continue to get their new stadium ready for the move back to Cornwall.

With the initial agreement ending in May, a resolution has been agreed for the White Tigers to remain at Bolitho for the 2023/24 season, still with the possibility of playing Vanarama National League South football next term.

Plymouth Parkway have enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past five years under the stewardship of chairman Mark Russell and vice-chairman Gez Baggott.

This new agreement has been agreed with just under a month of the new season remaining.

Russell added: “This decision has been extremely difficult for the Board. We understand the extra hours of work and investment required for Bolitho Park, with two teams playing a season’s worth of football. However, we also needed to be sensible when looking at the future for ourselves, and for Truro City. As a football club, we hope Truro City continue with their development of their new ground and the football club will soon be back home in Cornwall.”

The two sides were the talk of the town on Boxing Day, when Parkway smashed their league attendance record as the two sides played out a fascinating 3-3 draw.

The reverse fixture is scheduled for Bank Holiday Monday, over the Easter weekend.

Truro’s Alex Black said: “We are very grateful to Plymouth Parkway for agreeing to a further extension whilst we finalise our return to Truro. We have been made very welcome over the last two seasons and we appreciate all the hard work that goes into sustaining the facility for two teams at this level”.
