Last-Gasp Truro Win Premier Division South Play-Off Final

Truro City are back in the Vanarama National League South after an absence of four years after winning the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South play-off final at The SB Stadium against Bracknell Town today.

The White Tigers, who beat their hosts home and away in the regular season, made a bright start in front of a sell-out crowd of 1,554.

The game then became end-to-end but it was Truro who came closest to taking the lead after 27 minutes when Shane White’s header was well claimed by Robins` keeper Michael Eacott.

Eacott then denied Conor Riley-Lowe from close range and at the other end, Truro `keeper James Hamon, the hero of their penalty shoot-out semi-final victory, made a fine save to deny Gary Abisogun.

But right on the stroke of half-time, the visitors broke the deadlock with a fine stroke from Tyler Harvey.

However, 8 minutes after the break, Bracknell were back on level terms when they were awarded a penalty and, despite protests from the visitors and a lengthy delay, Darryl Sanders kept his nerve and despatched the spot-kick firmly past Hamon.

Paul Wotton’s side responded superbly though and were back in front just 3 minutes later when, after Eacott had made a fine save from the initial effort, Rocky Neal pounced to poke the ball home.

Four minutes later and this entertaining final saw a fourth goal of the afternoon and it was another Bracknell leveller when Abisogun rather acrobatically converted a Dan Bayliss head-on.

The home side pressed for a winner but the White Tigers defended their box well as the game headed into stoppage time and potentially extra-time.

And 4 minutes into time added on, Truro broke Bracknell hearts with a winning goal from Riley-Lowe – the referee whistling for time seconds afterwards.
