National League System Allocations for the Southern Football League

The Football Association’s National League Systems committee have announced its allocations for the 2023/24 season.


And as far as the Pitching In Southern Football League is concerned, there are several new clubs joining or being switched from other Trident leagues.

Leaving the league are FC Romania, who were relegated from Division One Central and have now been allocated a place in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division.

Lymington Town, who failed a ground grading, have returned to the Wessex League Premier Division.

Both Slimbridge and Cinderford Town, relegated from Division One South, have been placed in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Ilkeston Town and Basford United have been moved back to the Northern Premier League Premier Division after one season in the Southern League.

Harrow Borough have received a relegation reprieve and remain in the Premier Division South, who welcome Isthmian League South Central runners-up and play-off winners Walton & Hersham, who join the Southern League for the first time, and the champions of that division, Basingstoke Town, who return to the Southern League after a two-year absence.

Another club returning to the Southern League and placed in the Premier Division South are Hungerford Town, who were relegated from the Vanarama National League South.

The Crusaders were last in the league in 2015/16.

The Premier Division Central have , Leamington and Kettering Town, all relegated from the National League North returning to the Southern League.

In Telford’s case, they were last in the competition back in 1978/79 under the guise of Telford United, while the Poppies were promoted as winners of the Premier Division Central in 2018/19.

The Brakes last had a two-season spell in the league in 2015/16 and 2016/17.

The division also has AFC Sudbury, runners-up and play-off winners of the Isthmian League Division One North, who were last members of the Southern League in 2009/10, Halesowen Town, play-off winners of the NPL Division One Midlands, who return to the league after a two-season absence, as well as the team who pipped the Yeltz to the title, Stamford AFC, who were last in the league in 2006/07.

Long Eaton United, play-off winners of the NPL Division One East, have also joined the league for the first time.

Division One South welcomes Bemerton Heath Harlequins from the Wessex League, Cribbs and Malvern Town from the Hellenic League, Mousehole from the Western League and Yate Town, relegated from the Premier Division South, while Bideford AFC have received a reprieve from relegation.

Division One Central have three relegated teams - , and , and welcome Spartan South Midlands League champions and runners-up .
