Young Midfielder Becomes First New Tavistock Recruit

Stuart Henderson, manager of Pitching In Southern League Division One South club Tavistock AFC, has announced George Newton as his first signing of the summer.

The 17-year-old joins the Lambs from Truro City, promoted back to the Vanarama National League South as Southern Premier Division South play-off winners.

Newton represented the White Tigers at under-18 and reserve level.

Henderson said: “Callum Davenport and myself have watched George several times over the last season, and again in a cup final at the weekend.

“He is one of the brightest prospects in local football. And despite George only just turning 18 in August, he has huge potential, and I believe he can challenge for a starting place in the Southern League next season.

“George is in great physical condition and his fitness and athleticism is a key factor in his game. He can play both off the left and the right and is a really exciting player in the final third and I am excited for Lambs supporters to see him in pre-season”.
