The centre-back was one of a clutch of players dual signed by Frome just before transfer deadline day last season from Toolstation Western League Premier Division side Shepton Mallet.
After impressing in both of his appearances, firstly on his debut against Bath City in the Somerset Premier Cup, he scored his first goal in the emphatic 5-1 win over Cinderford Town.
Wood is a young centre-back who represented the English Colleges on a tour to Italy.
He was at League One Exeter City`s academy from the age of 10 until he was 16 where he was captain of his age group.
He joined Western League Premier Division side Buckland Athletic in September 2020 and then joined Frome’s league rivals Willand Rovers in the summer of 2021.
Frome manager Danny Greaves told his club’s website: "I'm really happy to be bringing Matt Wood into the squad on a permanent basis following a few appearances last year on a dual registration basis.
“Matt is a player we had our eye on last season, and we were fortunate enough that Shepton were good enough to let us dual register him to help us in a couple of games when our injuries started to rack up. His performances in those games re-enforced our opinion on him, and once his campaign finished with Shepton Mallet we moved quickly to try and get his signature.
“I would like to thank Aaron Seviour and all at Shepton Mallet for their professionalism throughout this process".
