Marc Weatherstone, manager of Pitching In Southern League Division One Central club Welwyn Garden City, has re-modelled his backroom team ahead of the upcoming season.

Weatherstone will still have Josh Urquhart as assistant alongside him, but has added both a first-team and goalkeeping coach to his team. The Citizens also have a new physiotherapist as well.

New first team coach is Lee Hawkes, who is only 26, but has already had two seasons of management behind him and another as an assistant manager.

Those have been at Spartan South Midlands League Division One side Ampthill Town, who he has had in contention for promotion in both of his seasons in charge at Ampthill Park.

The Bedfordshire side finished a creditable sixth in their division last campaign.

Weatherstone said: “I was very impressed with Lee when we met recently. He is young and hungry to do well. Just the sort of coach I want aboard.’’

Goalkeeping coach is Ryan Court, whose most recent appointment was as ladies manager at Isthmian League North outfit Bowers & Pitsea, but prior to that, was goalkeeping coach with the Citizens` neighbours Potters Bar Town, when Lee O’Leary was in charge of the Scholars.

Newly in charge of the treatment room is physio Rachel Wong, who has been recruited by Weatherstone from one of his former clubs, Enfield Town, and has worked extensively in Canada, being involved in American Football, while she was working ‘over the pond’.
