It will be the 33-year-old’s third spell in a Boro shirt as he was briefly on loan back in 2017, and came to help secure Premier Division status for the last few games at the end of last season.
Wassmer had been back with Boro’s league rivals Hayes & Yeading United since January 2022.
He had signed for then-Vanarama National League South side Billericay Town in January 2019 from Woking and then switched to league rivals Hampton & Richmond Borough in November 2019.
He started his career at Hayes & Yeading, working his way through their youth system before breaking into the first team.
His performances caught the eye of Steve Evans, then managing Crawley Town, and he moved to the Sussex club when they moved up to the Football League.
After two seasons with Crawley he returned to non-League football, initially on loan at Fleetwood Town before permanently moving to Cambridge United.
A return spell at Hayes & Yeading in 2013 followed before he moved to Margate in 2014.
Spells with Maidenhead United and Hampton & Richmond Borough followed before he signed for Woking in 2018.
