Thirty-four-year-old McManus signed for Nuneaton in December 2020.

Born in Greater Manchester, he started out as an apprentice at Manchester United.
He was released by United without playing above under-18 level and joined his local club, Prestwich Heys.

He spent three years with his local team before been picked up by then Northern Premier League side Curzon Ashton. However, he wouldn`t make a senior appearance for The Nash as in a pre-season friendly against Nottingham Forest he impressed so much that offers arrived from Forest and Crewe Alexandria, with him choosing the latter.

He spent two years with the Railwaymen, making 6 first team appearances.

After being released by Crewe, he joined FC United of Manchester for a season in 2010/11 before crossing the Pennines to sign for FC Halifax Town.

It was as a Shaymen that his career really blossomed and he went on to play over 250 times and score 12 goals, appearing in the 2015/16 FA Trophy Final victory over Grimsby Town, scoring the only goal of the game with a lob over the keeper from 22 yards.

In May 2018, it was announced he would be leaving the Shaymen and joined Nuneaton`s league rivals Coalville Town to be closer to his home in the Midlands.

He made sporadic appearances for the Ravens in 2019/20 and then went into semi-retirement, turning out for his local team this season.

Nuneaton’s head coach Andy Danylyszyn told his club’s website: "We had a progressive season just gone and it was really important to keep that foundation and build around that and add to that. Macca was a high performer on the pitch and gave us a solid base to build off.

“Scott’s performances were consistently good and it was important to keep that solid foundation which Macca helped to build. His quality and experience going into this season will be important in order for us to keep progressing."

And, following an impressive first season with Boro, defender Lathaniel Rowe-Turner has also agreed to stay.

The experienced 33-year-old joined Nuneaton last summer from league rivals Stourbridge.

He had moved to the Glassboys in July 2021 from then league rivals Tamworth.

He had joined the Lambs in June 2019 having helped Kettering Town win that division in 2018/19.

He had signed for the Poppies during the close season of 2018.

He has previously played for Cheltenham Town, Redditch United, King`s Lynn - all on loan from Leicester City - before signing for Torquay United. He later played for Luton Town, Alfreton Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Nuneaton Town and Chester FC.

Danylyszyn added: "We are buzzing to be able to retain Lathaniel. He had a tremendous season. He's a talented footballer, which was shown by having tremendous performances, consistently in an unflavoured position at left back, but he got on with it and made it his own. Everyone speaks about new signings but for me, fighting off suitors to keep Snoop was key for us. Winning players' player of the season says a lot about the player but also the brilliant human being that Snoop is. Top, top shelf”.
