Two More New Ducks

Pitching In Southern League Division One Central club Aylesbury United have announced the arrival of two more new players ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

Goalkeeper James Callan is the latest player to agree terms with the Ducks.

The 19-year-old was the youngest-ever goalkeeper to play in the Vanarama National League when he made his debut in goal for Barnet at 16 as a substitute against Sutton United in 2021.

He was part of the Barnet academy before signing a professional contract with the Bees.

Last season he spent time on loan at Bedford Town before he was recalled by the National League side.

Manager Jack Wells said: “I’m pleased to welcome James to the football club. We’ve had good conversations in the past couple of weeks but with Craig Hill coming available we went a different route. However, after many conversations and much thought we believe James has great pedigree with being the youngest goalkeeper to make his National League debut and being number two at Barnet last season, signing a keeper of his calibre is a big step to what we want to achieve.

“A few people would have seen that we have parted ways with Craig. Non-League works very quickly, but I have to make the best decisions for the football club. We want to wish Craig all the best for his future endeavours.”

The Ducks have also announced the return of Derek Feyi.

The defender first joined the club in 2019, making 4 appearances, before moving to Aylesbury Vale Dynamos on a dual registration for game time.

The powerful defender re-joins the Ducks from Combined Counties League side Banstead Athletic.

He had signed for the sadly now defunct Staines Town in December 2021 from Spartan South Midlands outfit Arlesey Town.

He had moved to Arlesey in September 2020 from then-Staines` league rivals Chalfont St Peter where he had been since July 2019.

He had been with the now-named Aylesbury Vale Dynamos in the Southern Division One Central in 2018/19 on dual registration with Marlow.

He has also featured for Arlesey Town, Thame United and Winslow United.

Wells added: “I'm thrilled to get Derek over line. Since last being at the club Derek has found regular first team football and is someone I believe will be very important for us this coming season. As well as being a powerful centre back he also fits the mould of someone I can trust in possession of the ball and fully buys into the way we plan to set up. Finding that balance in a player at this level is difficult and that's why I'm so pleased to welcome Derek to the Ducks”.
