Blow for Boatmen as Prolific Marksman Leaves

Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South newcomers Sholing have announced that prolific marksman Lee Wort has left the Boatmen.

The 31-year-old scored 19 league and 8 cup goals for Sholing as they won promotion via the Division One South play-offs last season.

He re-joined Sholing in October 2019 and scored over 260 goals in 516 games.

He returned after spending six months travelling the world.

He spearheaded the Boatmen to an FA Vase/Wessex Premier `double` in 2013/14 before moving to Gosport Borough.

He returned to Sholing and then gave the Vanarama National League South another try with Poole Town in the summer of 2016.

He trialled with Accrington Stanley in 2014 and returned to Sholing in 2017.

He switched to ambitious Wessex League side AFC Portchester in July 2020 and then re-joined the Boatmen again in July 2022.

Now, he has returned to Portchester.

Sholing boss Dave Diaper said: "We are obviously disappointed that Lee Wort
isn’t now completing the journey with us, but we couldn’t agree terms.

"We know he will smash it at that level and we wish him and AFC Portchester
the best for the forthcoming season".
