Storer will be working with both Jimmy and Andy Danylyszyn. However, the 36-year-old won't be hanging up his boots just yet, with him still playing a vital role on the pitch.
Storer first signed for the Boro from Atherstone United in February 2009, before playing for Kidderminster Harriers, Wrexham, Cheltenham Town and Solihull Moors.
In January 2023, Storer returned to the Boro to help the club in their push for promotion.
Storer's football career has enabled him to gather a wealth of knowledge and experience that the management team are looking to benefit from, with Ginnelly telling his club’s website: "We are delighted to announce that 'Mr Nuneaton Borough' has accepted the roll of player/assistant manager for this up-and-coming season.
“We brought Stoz back to the club because of his professional attitude and he’s got bundles of that!
“He’s got loads of football left in him yet, but also with his leadership around the building, he can help Andy and I with all of the other aspects of what football is all about. We will be picking his brains in the office with his football ideas and bouncing off him for how the other top clubs do things.
“With the title assistant manager, he’ll have that input to the players about our club’s code of conduct and he’ll be assisting the skipper with all of those players’ fines etc. However, his main role this season will be as a player and organising the players on the pitch. This assistant role is about his future more than anything."
Storer said: "I’m delighted to be wearing the blue and white again for the next campaign. I will drive for success for this football club and success next year is promotion. We need to give the fans a year to remember and I will do all I can to achieve that target!
“I'm delighted that the gaffa and Andy have shown faith and have trust in me for the role of assistant manager. It's the next progression in my career, combined with also playing. I feel this will help us enormously on and off the pitch. Having someone, who understands the club’s philosophy and values, is crucial with being successful. I will give this club everything I have as a player and a member of staff. I'm looking forward to the new campaign. Let's get behind the boys and have an unbelievable season".
