Miller Returns to Stamford

Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central newcomers Stamford AFC have re-signed former favourite Ricky Miller.

The now 34-year-old returns to the Zeeco Stadium from Northern Premier League Division One East side Grantham Town, where he had been since early December 2021.

He had re-signed for Dover Athletic in June 2021 from rivals Aldershot Town, where he had been since January 2021.

He spent his youth career in both League One side Charlton Athletic and local rivals Woking’s youth systems, before successful spells within non-League football with the likes of Stamford, Corby Town, Hitchin Town and Aylesbury FC that saw the forward earn moves into the Football League with the likes of Luton Town, Peterborough United, Mansfield Town and Port Vale.

But it was in the National League systems where he played his best football, scoring 28 goals in 46 games for National League North side Boston United in 2013/14, before going onto to score 22 goals in 54 games in the National League with Dover in 2015/16.

However, it was the season after in 2016/17 that saw his best return of goals in professional football, scoring 45 goals in 46 games for Dover as they narrowly missed out on a play-off position, with the forward finishing the season as top scorer in the National League, 15 goals clear of second-placed Christian Doidge.

Having had a year out from football, he decided to make his comeback with Aldershot Town.
