Leiston Lose Another of Their Young Stars

Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central club Leiston have lost another of their young stars with attacking midfielder George Quantrell following Will Davies to Vanarama National League South side Braintree Town.

The 20-year-old joined Leiston from Isthmian League North side Stowmarket Town in May 2021 and went on to make 99 appearances for the club, netting 14 goals.

He burst on to the scene at Greens Meadow back in February 2019, scoring a late winner in Stowmarket’s Suffolk Premier Cup quarter final against Brantham Athletic in just his second appearance.

After a string of impressive performances, he left Stow to return to his former club Dereham Town in February 2020 before returning for a second spell with Stow in September 2020.

Last season, Quantrell made 50 appearances for the Blues as Leiston reached the play-offs.
