Matt Maloney

Cameron Groom, Matt Maloney, Sam Willett, Alfie Warman, Ollie Trott and Elgeniy Daalberg have all checked into Sharpenhoe Road.

Groom is a 20-year-old goalkeeper who joins Rovers from Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division side Potton United, where he had been since February 2023.

He started out at Hitchin Town and went on to have spells with Biggleswade United, Baldock Town, Berkhamsted and Arlesey Town.

Maloney is a 20-year-old full back who joins from new league rivals Bedford Town, where he had been since August 2022.

He joined Luton Town as an under-15 and has played in almost every position throughout his youth career – even as a back-up keeper on one occasion!

He has played Step 3 football with Hitchin, joining the Canaries on `work experience` in October 2021.

Following a successful trial through pre-season, he won a place in the Eagles squad.

Willett is a defender who moves to Rovers from SSML Division Two side Codicote.

He started out at Arlesey Town, where he spent five seasons, before joining Crawley Green in 2017.

He moved to The 61 FC Luton in 2021 before spending the 2022/23 campaign at Codicote.

Warman is a 22-year-old defender who makes the short trip from Hitchin.

He joined the Canaries in August 2022 following two seasons with local Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division neighbours Baldock Town and one with Godmanchester Rovers.

He began in Barton’s under-18s where he was skipper.

Trott is another defender who signs for Barton from SSML Division One side Letchworth Garden City Eagles.

He started his career with Luton Town and was also on Enfield Town’s books after leaving Kenilworth Road.

Another who was with Hitchin before moving to near-neighbours Baldock and then Letchworth in 2021/22.

Daalberg is a 22-year-old midfielder who moves to Rovers from SSML Premier Division side Leverstock Green.

He spent three seasons in Green’s first team, making almost 100 appearances, and also had a spell with Arlesey Town.
