Staley Boost for Frome

Pitching In Southern League Division One South club Frome Town have announced the signing of Ross Staley.

A skilful left-sided player who can operate anywhere along the flank or centrally. He came up through the academy system at Bristol Rovers, earning his first professional contract in 2012.

The 29-year-old wide player re-joined Vanarama National League South side Taunton Town in January 2020 after leaving the Peacocks two years previously to play in Australia.

He originally moved to Taunton in October 2016 from Hereford FC after beginning his career with Bristol Rovers.

Whilst with the Bulls he featured regularly in the side that were Midland League champions and losing FA Vase finalists.

He then went on to play for Yate Town and Gloucester City before making an immediate impact with the Peacocks, scoring 8 goals from his first 12 starts before he departed to play and coach in Australia in January 2018, featuring for Rockingham City and then Eastern Lions.

He also spent time in New Zealand with Manurewa AFC from February 2023 until the summer of 2023 when he joined Frome Town.

Frome boss Danny Greaves told his club’s website: "I am delighted to add Ross into the group. We have been searching for 12 months for a player with the qualities and attributes which Ross will bring, not to mention his vast experience, albeit still at a very good age. He has won leagues and knows what it takes in terms of strong mentality and character to be consistent over a 40+ game season".
