A crowd of 431 saw the new-look Eagles beat another team almost unrecognisable from last term, county neighbours Barton Rovers, 2-0 at The Eyrie with goals from Alex Collard after 12 minutes and Louis Walsh on the half-hour mark.

Stotfold edged out a Hadley side who have lost their two games, 2-0 at the JSJ Stadium New Roker Park.

Henry Snee after 8 minutes and Haroon Meriai just shy of the hour-mark were the scorers for Brett Donnelly’s side.

Ware, neighbours Hertford Town and relegated North Leigh all recorded first wins.

Ware beat Welwyn Garden City 4-2 at Wodson Park, going three-up through Theo Ofori, Dan Rumens and Brandon Adams - all in the first half.

Bailey Stevenson on 47 minutes and Josh Steele on the hour-mark cut the arrears to one, only for Ofori to make it 4-2 with 10 minutes to go.

Hertford beat Biggleswade Town, who had won their opener, 3-2 at the Yvette Brewer Stadium.

Charlie Payne gave the Blues a 36th minute lead that Liam McDevitt cancelled out just 3 minutes later.

Mo Diaby restored Hertford’s lead on 42 minutes and Deimar Cardoso increased it on 56.

Jon Clements gave the Waders hope when he reduced the deficit to one with 12 minutes remaining, but the visitors held on.

North Leigh won 4-2 at Creasey Park against AFC Dunstable.

It was 2-2 after 18 minutes, with Ethan Holt and Enrico Greco for the OD’s and a Lance Williams brace for the Millers.

Dan West scored two in the 30th and 35th minutes to make it 4-2 – before the break!

Defences tightened up after that.

Goals from Jorell Johnson, Sonny French, Lorenzo Johnson and Cheyce Grant saw Kings Langley win 4-2 at Capershotts against Waltham Abbey, whose Sam Shaban bagged a brace.

John Dennis after 10 minutes, Aidan Bennett 10 minutes later and Luca Robinson on 37 minutes proved enough for Cirencester Town at the Corinium Stadium against Thame United.

Newly-promoted Leighton Town’s 4-2 win at The Meadow against Aylesbury United sees the Spartan South Midlands champions remaining unbeaten.

Hero of the day for the visitors was Luke Pyman, who netted a hat-trick in the 21st, 43rd and 75th minutes after Louie Barrett had given them an 8th minute lead.

The Ducks pulled two back in the final 10 minutes through Jack Wood and Owen James.
