Saturday's Emirates FA Cup Round-Up

A round-up of games involving clubs in the Pitching In Southern Football League.

Results on Saturday in the Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round were reasonably successful.

Of the Division One Central and Division One South clubs through to this round, only seven were knocked out, albeit with one or two `surprise` outcomes.

Division One Central side Barton Rovers and Division One South outfits Bemerton Heath Harlequins and Wimborne Town and Paulton Rovers must replay after drawn matches on Saturday against East Thurrock United and Petersfield United respectively, whilst Wimborne and Paulton played each other and now replay at Winterfield Road after a 0-0 draw at New Cuthbury.

In other all-Southern League ties, Ware edged out AFC Dunstable 2-1 at Wodson Park with Mitch Hahn’s 20th minute opener for the hosts being cancelled out by Tra Lucas less than a minute later before Theo Ofori’s penalty just before the break for the hosts proving decisive.

Bishops Cleeve won by the same scoreline at North Leigh, with Ross Langworthy opening the scoring from the spot on the half-hour mark after he had been fouled.

North Leigh levelled through Lynton Goss but on 69 minutes, Jacob Geddes won it for the Mitres.

Goals from Dan Akubuine and Pemi Aderoju in the first half and Tom Coles in the second saw Biggleswade FC win 3-1 at Hillgrounds against Kempston Rovers.

Amongst the `surprises` was Tavistock AFC’s 5-3 home defeat to Toolstation Western League Premier Division side Barnstaple Town.

And a hat-trick by Duarte Martins helped Wessex League Premier Division side AFC Stoneham to a 5-1 home win against Melksham Town.

And Hamworthy United lost 2-1 at home to Wessex League neighbours Moneyfields with Tom Cain and Ryan Pennery on target for the visitors.

Combined Counties League outfit, Flackwell Heath, beat Cirencester Town 2-0 at Wilks Park, thanks to Matty Ayres after 58 minutes and Jethro Odumosu 5 minutes from time.

A comfortable passage though for unbeaten Division One Central club Bedford Town, who triumphed 5-1 at Thurlow Nunn League side Mulbarton Wanderers.

A brace from Ryan Blake helped the Eagles go nap in Norfolk.

Leighton Town edged out Isthmian League North side Enfield FC 1-0 at Bell Close, courtesy of a 37th minute Albie Hall effort in front of an excellent crowd of 429.

Losing to Isthmian League opposition were Waltham Abbey, who lost 3-1 at Lower Road against Hullbridge Sports and having Harrison Walker dismissed in the 64th minute.

And Brentwood Town saw off Kings Langley 2-1 at the Brentwood Centre, with Rene Howe equalising Jack Adlington’s 26th minute opener for Town 5 minutes before time, only for Sam Deering to win it for the hosts in stoppage time.

Welwyn Garden City beat Essex Senior League side Romford 3-1 at Mayesbrook Park.

The hosts were shocked when defender Darren Phillips was sent-off after less than 6 minutes.

Dernell Wynter had given the Citizens the lead 2 minutes earlier and then Bailey Stevenson doubled that on 44 minutes, only for Charlie Morris to pull one back immediately afterward.

Lucas Jordan popped up with the City winner 7 minutes from time.

Yate Town have lost their opening two league games, but progressed in the cup with a 1-0 success at Combined Counties League side Holyport, thanks to a goal right on half-time from Sam Pashen.

Owen Brain netted a hat-trick as Bristol Manor Farm beat Hellenic League outfit Roman Glass St George 4-1 at The Creek.

And Ryan Turner was another three-goal hero for Bideford AFC in their 4-0 win at The Sports Ground against Western Leaguers Helston Athletic.

As was Ben Griffiths in Frome Town’s 6-2 success at Falmouth Town.

Levi Steele after 64 minutes and Amar Amadh 10 minutes later sealed Evesham United’s win against another Hellenic League side, Tuffley Rovers, at the Spier & Hartwell Stadium.

Other Southern League clubs into the next round are Bashley, 3-2 winners at Combined Counties side Fareham Town, Mousehole AFC, who inflicted a 5-1 hammering on St Blazey with Jack Bray-Evans and Jack Symons both bagging braces and Max Hill and Josh Bissett singles.

Goals from Matty Bowman and Achie Ferris saw Larkhall Athletic through 2-0 at Wessex Leaguers UN Portsmouth.
