Merthyr Town continue to march on at the top of the Pitching In Southern League Premier South table as they secured their fifth win in a row on Saturday.
They had to come from behind to beat Sholing, which manager, Paul Michael, admitted wasn’t a bad thing.
“Going behind maybe helped us raise the tempo that bit extra, which is what we needed,” he said. “I was really pleased with our overall performance.
“In terms of chances we should have been out of sight and that’s why at 2-1 it became a bit stressful towards the end, but we did what we had to do to get the win.
“We’ll recover as best we can now for Monday’s game at Swindon Supermarine. They’ll be a dangerous animal after their heavy defeat on Saturday and we’ll be aware of that threat.”
