New Consortium Takes Over At Bromsgrove Sporting

Experienced trio come in as Chairman steps down after seven years

A new consortium has taken over at Bromsgrove Sporting.

Brian Seymour-Smith becomes Chairman with Paul Molesworth taking on the Director of Football role and Craig Cotterill becoming Commercial Director.

Previous Chairman, Mike Burke, has stepped down after seven years at the helm of the Worcestershire club.

“It’s been an interesting seven years,” admitted Burke. “I depart after three exciting promotions and leave the club in a healthy position.

“I am proud of what has been achieved as a club during my tenure and a massive thank you goes out to everyone who has been part of the journey.”

There is plenty of experience and know-how amongst those coming into the club.

Seymour-Smith has previously served on the board of Bristol Rovers and also spent 11 years reporting for Sky Sports, whilst Molesworth is an experienced Chief Scout who counts the likes of Exeter City, Newport County, Swindon Town, Mansfield Town and Bristol Rovers amongst his former clubs.

Cotterill is currently working as the commercial director for The Club Management Association of Europe, which works across multiple sports, delivering globally recognised education pathways to over 5,000 club managers in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.

“Our sole intention is to ensure the positive long-term welfare of this football club, in which the supporters will be at the heart of everything we do,” said Seymour-Smith. “Yes, we are extremely ambitious both on and off the field, however, we are also very realistic about what we can achieve within our current physical and financial limitations.

“We have to move forward and we will. We want more families to come to the ground, this means ensuring we provide a safe and happy, cost-effective environment so that everyone feels welcome.”
