Having secured their Step 4 status for the first time since 2009 at the end of last season, Malvern Town co-manager, Stephen Cleal, knows that his side have to start learning quickly about the added demands the higher level brings.
The Hillsiders slipped to two defeats over the Bank Holiday weekend, 2-0 at Wimborne Town and a 3-1 home reverse at the hands of fellow new-boys, Cribbs, on Monday.
“This club has been very good for a very long time,” he said. “But now we’re going to be facing different challenges every week and our decision-making has to be better.
“We haven’t played anywhere near to our potential over the last two games. On Monday we played some brilliant football in the first half but then a silly mistake has allowed Cribbs to get in front and we all know how good they are at defending leads.
“Fair play to them because they came here with a game plan and stuck to it, but as far as we are concerned, we’ll pick ourselves up and be ready to go again.
“There is enough quality in our side, we just need to show it in the right areas.”
