Alvechurch and Redditch United played out what Reds’ boss, Matt Clarke, has described as a ‘crazy game’ on Bank Holiday Monday.
Church let a 3-1 lead slip to go 4-3 down following an audacious long-range lob from Liam Armstrong with just two minutes left on the clock before levelling from the penalty spot deep into stoppage time.
“It was a crazy game,” said Clarke at the end. “It was amazing for the neutral but for me, a manager and former defender, it was not good at all!
“The positives from our point of view are that we remained positive even at 3-1 down, and we created a lot of chances throughout the game.
“We were outstanding going forward in the second half but presented them with a way back into it right at the end.
“It was one of those where we should have won but equally could have lost.”
Both teams take a breather from League action this weekend as Alvechurch host Basford United and Redditch United entertain Boldmere St. Michaels in the first round qualifying of the Emirates FA Cup.
