Kirkpatrick Looks To Get Ahead

Comebacks name of the game so far for Barton Rovers

Barton Rovers midfielder, Lucas Kirkpatrick, knows that his side have to capitalise on their bright start to matches.

The Pitching In Southern League Division One Central outfit have fallen behind in each of their four League games so far and have one win, one defeat and two draws to their name.

“We’re starting games well but not being able to get ahead,” said the 28 year-old. “But we’re sticking together well and keeping going until the end, that’s why we have come back to take points in three of the four games.

“This is a brand new team; the chemistry is good and we’ve gelled together well, which is showing through in matches and training.

“The lads are all buying in to what we are trying to achieve; it’s a good group and the spirit is strong, which will stand us in good stead as the season goes on.

“There’s a busy schedule of matches to come. We have high expectations and know that we have to start putting wins on the board and moving in the right direction.”

Rovers played out two successive 2-2 draws over the Bank Holiday weekend, sharing the spoils at home to Thame United before conceding a stoppage time equaliser to bring home a point from Kempston Rovers.

They host Milton Keynes Irish in the first round qualifying of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday.
