There was late drama at Bristol Manor Farm on Tuesday evening as visitors, Mousehole, snatched a stoppage time goal to win 4-3 and continue their impressive start to the season in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South.
The Cornish outfit fell two goals behind when Lloyd Mills and Owen Brain found the net, but they were given a lifeline when Callam McOnie pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time.
It gave them the momentum to turn the scoreline on its head when Max Hill and Tallan Mitchell put them in front only for the home side to level with just four minutes to go through Bevan Cross before Jack Bray-Evans struck six minutes into added time to send his side back to the top of the table.
“We seem to be involved in a lot of entertaining games at the moment,” admitted Manor Farm manager, Lee Lashenko. “We’re disappointed with our points tally as it stands but at the same time, we are confident that the fine lines will turn for us before too long.
“Credit where credit’s due because Mousehole are one of the best sides we have faced for a while; the way they kept the ball and their desire, but we are also a good side in the making and this shows the levels that we need to reach.
“Obviously we are disappointed in the manner of the defeat, but we’re a confident group and we’ll keep working and keep improving. We know that we have goals in this team and, like I say, things will start turning in our favour before too long.”
Lashenko’s side take a break from their battle to secure their first League win of the season this weekend as they turn their attention to the Isuzu FA Trophy with an away tie at Thatcham Town.
